Seven Covenant that God made with man

These blog articles are for Christian or non-christian who wants a deeper understanding and insight about the kingdom of God. I believe these inspired articles will shift your thinking and cultivate your spirit to know and understand your role and purpose on this earth.

I should let you know that God is a God who believes in upholding covenant. That means when God makes a covenant, he cannot break it. You cannot take God away from his words because when he speaks it is final.

Malachi 3:6

‘For I am the Lord , I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. ‘

As you engage with me through these teachings, you will receive fundamental biblical truth that will help to cultivate and align you into the knowledge of the Kingdom of God.

                                 Luke 22:19-20

‘And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

A covenant is a kind of promise, a contract, a binding agreement between two parties. The lord used blood as a seal to enforce the agreement.

There are seven covenants throughout the generation of man in the bible

  1. Adamic Covenant. Genesis 1:26-30 and 2:16-17,

‘And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ‘

this covenant was conditional. It included the command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, pronounced a curse for sin, and spoke of a future provision for man’s redemption

  • Noahic Covenant. This general covenant was made between God and Noah following the departure of Noah, his family, and the animals from the ark. Genesis 9:11, “I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.
  • Abrahamic Covenant. This unconditional covenant first made to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3,

‘Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. ‘

God blessing upon Abraham, to make his name great and to make his generation into a great nation. The covenant also promised to bless those who blessed Abraham and cursing to those who cursed him.

‘And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, and shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; that then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

noted God’s promise to scatter Israel if they disobeyed God, then to restore them later to their land. This covenant has been fulfilled twice, with the Babylonian Captivity and subsequent rebuilding of Jerusalem under Cyrus the Great; and with the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, followed by the reinstatement of the nation of Israel in 1948.

  • Mosaic Covenant. This conditional covenant, found in Deuteronomy 11 and elsewhere, promised the Israelite’s a blessing for obedience and a curse for disobedience. Much of the Old Testament chronicles the fulfillment of this cycle of judgment for sin and later blessing when God’s people repented and returned to God.
    6. Davidic Covenant. This unconditional covenant, found in 2 Samuel 7:8-16, promised to bless David’s family line and assured an everlasting kingdom. Jesus is from the family line of David (Luke 1:32-33) and, as the Son of David

‘He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. ‘

(Mark 10:47), is the fulfillment of this covenant.

‘And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. ‘

‘Behold, the days come, saith the LORD , that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD : but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD , I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD : for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD : for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. ‘

 This covenant, found in promised that God would forgive sin and have a close, unbroken relationship with His people. The promise was first made to Israel and then extended to everyone who comes to Jesus Christ in faith (Matthew 26:28;

‘for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ‘

 Hebrews 9:15

‘And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. ‘

When God made a covenant with his servant in the Old Testament, he would do the impossible to see that everything went well with them. In the Old Testament, it is proven that God would rather take the life of an animal than to take the life of his people. And in the New Testament, God shows us that he would rather take the life of his own begotten son than to take the life of his people

Jesus Paid a big price to draft up a covenant no other so that you and I can rest knowing that he is always there for us. Listen to what Isaiah said about what Jesus paid to secure your freedom from sin Isaiah 53:3-7

‘He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. ‘

Hebrews 8:6-13

‘But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.’

Do you know that Jesus went to the cross to make this covenant so if he did this then what will he not do to see you live in victory and power? What will Jesus not do to make sure the promises that he has made to you to manifest.

Deuteronomy 31:6

‘Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. ‘

1 Peter 5:7

‘Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. ‘

Jeremiah 33:3

‘Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. ‘

John 3:14-16

‘ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ‘

Roman 3:23-24

‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: ‘
