Here are 8 benefits of Living for God

These blog articles are for Christian or non-christian who wants a deeper understanding and insight about the kingdom of God. I believe these inspired articles will shift your thinking and cultivate your spirit to know and understand your role and purpose on this earth.

Living for God is more than a set of religious practices; it is a transformative journey that brings about benefits in every aspect of life. The Bible is filled with stories of people who dedicated their lives to God. When we study the lives of these individuals carefully, we note that even though they experienced some challenges, their lives were blessed. In this article, we will explore the blessings that accompany a life devoted to God.

1 Corinthians 7:17 (NIV) says, “Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.”

Whether you are a business person, a worker in a public office, a stay-at-home mum or a minister, you are called to live for God. You must do whatever God has assigned you to do in your area of service.

Listed below are some of the benefits that we get from living a life devoted to the Almighty God.

·  We Find Spiritual Fulfillment When We Live for God

Living for God provides a deep and abiding sense of spiritual fulfillment. In John 10:10 (NIV), Jesus declared, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” This fullness of life encompasses a rich communion with God, a deep understanding of one’s purpose, and the assurance of eternal life. The spiritual intimacy and fulfillment that come from a life dedicated to God are unparalleled. When we live for God, we feel worthy of His love and the identity He has given us. It is like doing something that pleases your parents. That feeling of fulfillment in seeing them rejoice at your achievements is the same that we feel when we fully live for God.

·  Peace that Surpasses Understanding

One of the remarkable benefits of living for God is the peace that surpasses understanding. In a world marked by turmoil and uncertainty, God offers peace that anchors our hearts.

Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”

God’s peace will fill your mind when you acknowledge that He is in control of every aspect of your life. You will learn to surrender everything to God and this will calm your mind and soul. Those who live for God do not grapple with anxiety, worry, and fear. Instead, their faith in God helps them remain strong and hopeful in all circumstances. It is like a child who goes to bed, free of any form of stress because they know that their parents will take care of everything.

Jesus Himself promised peace to His disciples, assuring them that it is a gift from Him, (John 14:27). This peace does not come from external sources but flows from the presence of God.

·  When We Live for God, We Receive Divine Guidance and Direction

Living for God means surrendering one’s life to His guidance. God, in His infinite wisdom, provides guidance and direction for every aspect of life.

Psalms 37:23-24 (NIV) says, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”

This is an affirmation that David, a man after God’s own heart, made. He lived for God from his childhood days to the day he breathed his last. When we look at his life, there are many things we can learn from him. God guided and directed his steps and even though he stumbled at some point, he never fell.

This is what God promises to those who live for Him; that He will light their paths and guide them the way they should go. God guides us through the Holy Spirit. He prevents us from stumbling, falling, and from straying from the path of truth.

John 16:13 (NIV) says, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”

·  God Grants Joy to Those Who Live for Him

The joy that comes from living for God transcends circumstances. Paul wrote that we should rejoice in the Lord always, (Philippians 4:4). This joy is not dependent on external conditions but is rooted in the unchanging character of God. Moreover, in Psalms 16:11, the psalmist declares, “In your presence there is fullness of joy.” Living for God opens the door to a joy that endures through trials and triumphs alike.

·  Living for God is the Secret to Abundant Blessings

Living for God is living in obedience to His teachings and in line with the principles of His Word. It means letting go of the things that offend God and devoting ourselves to things that please Him. In Deuteronomy 28, the Bible lists the blessings that accompany those who obey the Lord.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NIV) reads, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.”

Take the example of Abraham, a man who trusted in the Lord and fully obeyed all His commands. God blessed Abraham and promised to bless his descendants too. He made him a father of many nations and he became fruitful in the land.

· Living for God Leads to Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding

Proverbs 9:10 (NIV) says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from the Lord. He gives it freely to people who prioritize Him above all else. When we devote ourselves to God through prayer, Bible study, reflection, and meditation, we become wise and knowledgeable with each passing day. The Word of God imparts knowledge in us when we read it daily. Reflection and meditation boost our understanding and align our thinking with God’s thoughts. Therefore, if you desire to gain true wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, all you need to do is to live for God. Devote yourself to Him and seek Him in all ways.

· Living for God Opens the Door to Divine Provision

Psalms 34:9-10 (NIV) says, “Fear the Lord, you His holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.”

The Lord is a loving Father who does not let His people be in want. He is the good shepherd who takes care of the needs of His people. When you live for God, you position yourself to receive from His storehouse in heaven. Philippians 4:19 tells us that He will supply our needs according to His glorious riches. God provided for Prophet Elijah in the desert, He provided manna and quails for the Israelites and will provide for you today if you live for Him. You are worth more than the birds of the air and if He feeds them, He will fill your life with good things too.

·  Eternal Hope

Living for God instills an eternal perspective that transcends the temporal challenges of life. The hope of eternal life provides assurance in the face of mortality. This hope is not wishful thinking but a confident expectation based on the promises of God. Living for Him enables believers to face life’s uncertainties with a steadfast assurance of an eternal and glorious future.

John 5:24 (NIV) says, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”

The greatest benefit of living for God is the gift of eternal life. If we receive everything and fail to receive eternal life, then we have not truly lived for God.

Living for God is believing in Jesus Christ and following His teachings. In Matthew 3:16, we are told that whoever believes in Jesus will receive eternal life.

Conclusion

The benefits of living for God are multifaceted and extend to every dimension of life. From the deep spiritual fulfillment that comes from knowing and walking with God to the peace that surpasses understanding, the life devoted to God is marked by abundance. Matthew 6:33 (NIV) says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Living for God is seeking first His kingdom and righteousness. It is choosing to do the right thing even when society wants us to do the opposite.

As believers embrace the transformative journey of living for God, they discover a richness of life that far exceeds the fleeting pleasures of the world. May the abundant blessings of a life lived for God inspire and encourage all who seek a deeper and more meaningful existence.
